Since its inception in Valencia as part of different bands among which Age is Power, then known nationally and internationally as Arkangel, Gillman has led the heavy metal movement in Venezuela. Three discs with Arkangel (Arkangel, 1981, Rock Nacional, 1982 and Suppression Latinoamericana, 1983) give way to his band, known as Gillman, and other projects as Masakkre, Taxi, Black Knight (tribute to Deep Purple). Arkangel on these albums, Paul Gillman demonstrates his power in the music scene by a remarkable Anglo-Saxon influences from different bands, especially Iron Maiden, but with a distinct identity that makes flying the national flag named Rock. After Arkangel his departure from the band form Gillman with Ernesto Ferro (guitar), Luis Ferrer (bass) and Felipe Celis (drums) made her debut with the album Stand Up and Fight (1984), an album full of strength, with notable influences from Iron Maiden, with lyrics that denounce the social and political problems that are experienced in our country.
With changes in the group recording the album The Warrior (1985), for this album, only Ernesto Ferro remains in the pool and new members are two musicians of Resistance: Victor Lopez Inaudi (bass) and Rodrigo Yoma Aparici (guitar ), plus drummer Felix Guerra. Gillman says, with this training in his band, "here almost realize my dream of belonging to resistance to group together in this band achieve two of its founding members Victor" Maraco "Inaudi López on bass, and the best guitarist in Venezuela for the time Rodrigo Yoma, which together Ernesto Ferro and Felix were a tremendous Trabuco War "(from the notes included in the CD Paul Gillman 25 years).

With the release of the album Follow Me (1988), Gillman became part of the staff of a record of great importance in Venezuela and this ensures a wide dissemination of this work, but also a bump in which departs from its initial roots to approach a fairly sound trade, which is reflected in the hit Adriana, a sound totally removed from what is Paul Gillman, but as to err is human, the grinding is one of the virtues and although the sound will guarantee a commercial success and great benefits economic, Gillman chose to return to its roots and principles, and publishes The Return of the Warrior (1990), a name that indicates the return to his style and where once again demonstrates the strength that characterized his music with songs like the classic F-27, and Dr. Kanocha and Ladrolítico. With the release of The Harder (Cassette pirate 1991) and 15 Years (1992), compilation album that includes songs from Arkangel, Massakre Gillman and reaffirms the Paul Gillman potential in the country rock, which shows the influence of new music trends like Trash Metal and its derivatives, all this equipped with a personal touch that gives it an originality to his work.
With the release of the unedited (Pirate Cassette 1993), new themed compilation Arkangel, Power Age, Massakre and Taxi, it gives way to one of the most important works of Gillman and one of the most representative within the rock movement Venezuela: Chill (1994). Completely remodeled with a band where, in addition to Paul Gillman, are Facundo Coral (guitar), Eulalio "Churdy" Toledo (bass) and Eduardo Sáez (drums) and with the participation of the speaker Porfirio Torres, this recording makes a journey through various legends that are part of national folklore (The Warbler, The Sayona, bogie, etc.) where the account of each story, by the Speaker, accompanied by the force represented by music and lyrics by Gillman. With the same group edit the live album Live (1996), recorded in the city of Valencia. And for the twenty-first century offers us a new collection: Paul Gillman 25 years (2001), a double album which includes songs from throughout his career, but in a special way: the first album takes pieces of the Rock Albums Nacional (Arkangel 1982) , Stand Up and Fight (Gillman 1984) and The Warrior (Gillman 1985), albums that have only been released on LP and cassette format and there is no corresponding CD edition. The second disc features unreleased recordings and demos of Age Power, Massakre, Gillman and EP items Ready to Attack (1992) and a piece of history .... the anthem Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple, sung by Ian Gillan's band in the studio Mata de Coco (Caracas, May 22, 1992) with Paul Gillman. Cuauhtemoc's edition (2003) breaks a nine-year recording silence as the earlier work-study-data recorded in 1994 and this record continues to demonstrate the validity of Gillman in the national rock scene, an album that offers a Sound framed within the current hardest rock, with a cover designed by Derek Riggs, an artist known worldwide for the artwork he did with Iron Maiden. On November 27, 2003, under the First Festival of Urban Music "from the Axis" (Caracas), presents a new work record: Awakening in History (2003), a tribute to singer Ali Primera, held together with Great Zapata (guitars) and Elvys Zapata (bass, vocals). This latest album has 10 tracks composed by the famous Venezuelan singer Ali Primera disappeared and two songs composed by Gillman and the Zapata brothers. Interestingly, this album is for free distribution.
Gillman's work is not limited to but his band has participated in radio programs, as well as television spots: in the early 90's led a section in the program presented SonoClips where videos of artists from the rock scene worldwide and between 1999 and 2001 directed the "The Garage", an innovative space
